Gavin Scott Enters the Wella TrendVision 2014 contest Posted by Kristie

blog wellaShannon, a senior designer at Gavin Scott Salon and Spa, participated in the Wella TrendVision campaign submitting a color design and style with assistant Anastassia as the model.

The theme of the entry was Urban Native. A new breed of tech-savvy, nature-connected people have gone Urban Native. They've de-cluttered, slowed down, and re-connected with life. Perfectly at home with technology, and equally at ease switching it off, they pick what they need from nature and city-life to live how they want: in a more satisfying, relaxed and turned-on now.

The WellaTrendVision Awards recognizes both emerging stylists, and the most masterful colorists within the industry on a spectacular platform to encourage creativity and showcase talent.

Walk a Mile in her shoes  2014 Posted by Kristie

blog walk14Gavin Scott Salon and Spa participated in the 9th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes campaign by collecting and donating around $2300 dollars for the cause. We launched our own "show respect" campaing by inviting the other business at the Shoppes of Stow Plaza to contribute.

The mission behind the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes is to change the way individuals view gender roles. The Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit will raise community awareness of sexual violence and gain support to our programming through this conscience raising event. This year as we celebrate the 9th Annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes at Downtown Akron's Lock 3 Park we focus on the heroism of survivors and bystanders as they speak-out and step-up. In raising awareness, we can challenge the way we, as human beings, interact with one another and elevate our societies respect for our differences

Purses for Pooches Posted by Kristie

Gavin Scott Salon and Spa clients donated over 400 purses for the PAWSabilities Humane Society of Greater Akron (PHSGA) Purses for Pooches fundraiser. This collection effort raised approximately $3500 for the rummage sale.

"With our Purses for Pooches campaign, we hope to raise more funds through our rummage sale and attract a new audience to our sale. We truly have something for everyone and purses have been a wonderful success at past sales. [They] seem to be a big hit -- they alone bring in a nice stream of revenue for the animals we care for on a daily basis."

"gimme your loot!" Gavin Scott Salon and Spa collects change for Akron Children's Posted by Kristie

blog changebanditGavin Scott Salon and Spa collected $2600 in change for the Akron Children's Hospital "Have a Heart, Do Your Part" radiothon. Over the last five years we have donated approximately $12,000 to this annual event.

“The Change Bandit campaign is unique because it gives people a way to participate for their own reasons,” said Nicci Avalon, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program manager at Akron Children’s Hospital. “We receive great support. Whether it’s former patients and their families saying thank you for the care they received, or schools and organizations supporting our patients, these Change Bandits help us provide our patients with the best care.”
