Akron Life and Leisure Best of the City - Just two years young, Gavin Scott salon and Spa in Stow already has a loyal following. Our upscale salon with the laid back feel earned first place in the poll for Best Massage. We also came in second in the Women's Hair Salon and Facial Categories.
What is our secret? Co-owners Anne Davis and Kristie Warner made a conscious decision to keep services afforable without skimping on extras. We treat customers to a complimentary hand and arm massage, complimentary head massages with shampoos, and complimentary snacks and beverages.
Since 2009, Gavin Scott Salon and Spa has been working with the Humane Society of Greater Akron to spread the word about the needs of animals in Summit County. Last year, we raised over $1000.00 and delivered over 20 boxes of various supplies. This year, we decided to collect cat food and dog food during the month of August. The response has been overwelming. On August 30, we will deliver over 500 cans/bags of cat and dog food. This food will be used by the Humane Officers when visiting people who have issues feeding their pets and the Humane society staff. We would like to thank our wonderful clientele for their help in making this fundraiser a great success!

The GriefCare Place opened its doors in June of 1997. It offers a SAFE PLACE where those grieving the death of a loved one can find support, education, understanding, and a caring place to heal. The center serves individuals of all ages and offers a home-like atmosphere where grievers of strong faith or those of none can feel welcome. It was founded by Lou-Ann Redmon, Bereavement Facilitator, who is also the Director of the center.
The GriefCare Place educates participants about grief and provides caring volunteers who walk alongside and companion them during the grieving/healing process.
The GriefCare Place charges no fees and is funded entirely by fundraising events, donations, and memorial gifts. Since it is a charitable, non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible under IRS section 501(c)(3). Financial support is a continuous need, greatly appreciated, and is responsibly spent.

Lights! Camera! Action! Anne Davis, co-owner of Gavin Scott Salon and Spa was pleased to find herself in front of the television cameras recently – but not for the reason you might expert.
“While it’s fun to be on TV and share what’s new in hairstyles, the real joy came from sharing the mission of Locks of Love,” confides Davis. “It’s such an amazing organization that benefits so many children.”
Locks of Love is a public, non-profit organization that uses donated hair to create wigs for children who have lost their own hair from any medical diagnosis. On May 11th, Davis appeared on Channel 3’s “Good Company” to provide her stylist services to a young man who had purposely chosen to grow his hair for a donation. Alex Cheplowitz spent years growing his hair long enough to meet the ten inch requirement for donation. As required by Locks of Love, Davis first gathered the hair into a ponytail and, with a few quick snips, the donation was complete. Then Davis proceeded to style Cheplowitz’s newly shorn hair into a contemporary style.
“I’m so proud to have been able to help Alex in his effort to support this worthwhile organization,” enthuses Davis. “And I’m also proud to say, at our salon, we have been participating in the Locks of Love program from the day we opened our doors.” Kristie Warner, co-owner of Gavin Scott, adds, “We happily provide a free haircut for anyone who comes to the salon to donate their hair to Locks for Love.”
